Amaranta Hank, a former adult film actress from Colombia, has recently secured a position in the Colombian Congress. She is affiliated with the leftist party Pacto Histórico, which successfully obtained 25 congressional seats to aid in establishing a coalition government.
Active in the adult entertainment sector from 2017 to 2020, Hank now holds the title of senator.
Reflecting on her election and her past in the industry, she stated, “I’m not going to wait until the system considers me worthy to demand my place, our place. … I don’t want them to forgive my past or think I’m better now than before. I want them to recognize my power, the power of my voice, and the power of my colleagues.
“I raise my voice for myself and for every woman who, because of having engaged in paid sex work, has suffered exclusion, discrimination, censorship, or any type of violence,” she expressed.
