Shannon Lofland, a 21-year veteran of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, resigned on December 5, 2024, amid an internal investigation into her involvement in adult videos. Lofland, a 44-year-old wife and mother who served as the sheriff’s office driver training instructor, cited financial desperation as the reason for her actions.
Lofland explained that she turned to adult videos due to mounting financial pressures, including:
• Significant home damage from a June 2023 storm, with an estimated $500,000 in uninsured hail and water damage
• A tripling of her adjustable-rate mortgage costs over three years
• Increasing everyday expenses and the threat of foreclosure
She had been performing in adult videos for about a month, participating in approximately six different scenes for multiple production companies. Lofland admitted to violating department policy by not requesting permission for secondary employment, which she believed would not have been granted.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office initiated an internal investigation after discovering Lofland’s involvement in online sex videos, though they did not disclose how they became aware of this information. Lofland also resigned from her position on Colorado’s Peace Officer Standards and Training board several weeks prior to her departure from the sheriff’s office.
While Lofland expressed love for her law enforcement career, she is now considering her future options, including the possibility of continuing to make adult videos.
